The Independent Adjuster licensing exam in West Virginia is an hour-long test that consists of 75 questions. A score of 70 or greater is required to pass. West Virginia uses a scaled scoring system, so a score of 70 does not indicate what percentage or how many questions were answered correctly.
After you pass the exam, you can apply for your license with the West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner. Wait three to five business days for your application to be reviewed, and you will receive an email regarding your license status.

Licensing Info For How To Become An West Virginia Adjuster
Below is information on the licensing requirements for becoming an West Virginia Insurance Adjuster, its insurance department, and examination scheduling facilities.
West Virginia Adjuster License Requirements: - 18 years of age or older
- Pass the WV state exam administered by Pearson VUE Testing Centers
- Complete the West Virginia Insurance Adjuster License application and submit with applicable fees
- No Continuing Education is required. A West Virginia Adjuster license must be renewed each year on May 31st, regardless of when it was attained
Non-Resident West Virginia Insurance Adjuster License Non-resident applicants for a WV Adjuster License must submit an application. Please visit the
National Insurance Producer Registry for more information on West Virginia non-resident licensing.
Note: WV grants reciprocal licenses to adjusters who are licensed in their home state or who hold a Designated Home State (DHS) license, as long as that state requires an examination and grants reciprocal licenses to WV adjusters.
