Arizona does not require you to take a certain amount of pre-license credits before testing. This means that studying for your exam is 100% up to you.
The exam will cover in-depth product knowledge, industry terms, and insurance concepts relating to the license you are pursuing – this is the “general section.†There is also a “state section†that will cover Arizona law, rules, and regulations found in the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS).
Exams will last 2–2.5 hours and can have 100–150 questions. Each exam has an individual exam code you may need to know when you are reserving your exam time.Â
The passing rate will vary depending on the test you take and the state you are in. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners publishes data on pass rates by exam and by state showing a 60-70% pass rate for all exam takers, but with our courses over 90%!

Arizona Life And Health Licensing Requirements
Arizona Life And Health Pre-Licensing Requirements For Resident AgentsEvery state has its own licensing rules and regulations with respect to insurance licenses, including health and life insurance licenses. Arizona is no different. While many states require a certain number of hours or pre-licensing certification before you may sit for the licensing exam, Arizona does not.
That being said, it would be a mistake not to take advantage of exam-prep courses. Candidates who take advantage of the lack of pre-licensing requirements to try to take the exam without them are likely to struggle. This is a complicated exam with many parts, and the best way to pass it on the first attempt is with many hours of study and the right courses from a successful, established health and life insurance course provider. AB Training Center has all the requirements to be that provider.
After you have taken any preparatory courses you feel would be helpful and have completed your studies, you can schedule your life or health insurance licensing exam with Prometric. Register online or call them at 800-853-5448.
When you arrive at the test, make sure you have a valid government-issued ID with a picture and signature. Once you complete the exam, you will see your score immediately. You will also get a printed score report.
If you have passed, Prometric will also help you file your fingerprints with the state. The final step is to contact NIPR to apply for your license.
